Sharda temple in Maihar

Sharda Temple in Maihar: A Hidden Spiritual Gem

Tuesday 12 november 2024

If you’re planning a trip to Maihar, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, don’t miss out on the Sharda Temple. This beautiful temple, perched on a hill, is not only a spiritual haven but also offers a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. You’ll need to climb about 1063 steps to reach the temple, which may seem like a bit of a challenge, but the journey is totally worth it! Along the way, you’ll find beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere, making the climb enjoyable and rewarding.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Sharda, a form of Goddess Saraswati, who is associated with knowledge and wisdom. It’s believed that worshiping here brings peace, blessings, and spiritual growth. Whether you are religious or just looking for a peaceful spot, you’ll feel the calm energy of this place.

Maihar is well-connected by road and rail, and the temple is located just a short distance from the town center. The best time to visit Sharda Temple is during the cooler months, from October to March, as the weather will be pleasant for both the climb and sightseeing. If you can, try visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Visiting Sharda Temple in Maihar is a special experience. Whether you’re coming for spiritual reasons, a love of nature, or just to enjoy some quiet time, this temple has a lot to offer. The climb may be a little challenging, but the peace and beauty at the top make it all worth it.

If you’re planning to visit Maihar, make sure Sharda Temple is on your list. It’s one of those places that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and connected with the simplicity of nature and spirituality.

Have you ever been to Sharda Temple? Or is it now on your bucket list? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear about your experience or plans!

Local food of Jabalpur

 LOCAL FOOD TO TRY

Monday 11 November 2024

Every destination has its own special food, and Jabalpur is no exception. I highly recommend trying Poha for breakfast—a light dish made with flattened rice, spices, and peanuts. It’s simple but so tasty! Another dish to try is Sabudana Khichdi, made with sago, peanuts, and mild spices. Perfect for a light lunch!

Don’t forget to snack on Chana Samosas, a local twist on the regular samosa, stuffed with spiced chickpeas. It’s the perfect treat while exploring the city!

The best time to visit Jabalpur is between October and March. The weather is cool and perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Summer can be a bit hot, so I’d suggest avoiding the months from April to June.

Chausath yogini temple

The spiritual sights of Chausath yogini temple

Sunday 10 November 2024

If you’re ever in Jabalpur, there’s a hidden gem I’d highly recommend checking out—the Chausath Yogini Temple. Located on a hilltop in the outskirts of the city, this ancient temple offers a peaceful, spiritual experience and some truly spectacular views of the surrounding area. It’s one of those places that might not be crowded, but it leaves a lasting impression.

The temple has 106 steps that lead up to the top, and each step gets you closer to an amazing panoramic view of the city and the lush greenery surrounding it.

The temple is dedicated to 64 Yoginis (spiritual beings or deities), and there are 64 small shrines surrounding the central structure, each representing one of the Yoginis. The architecture of the temple is pretty unique, with intricately carved stone structures and statues of the Yoginis in different poses.

Dhuandhar water falls

DHUANDHAR  FALLS

Saturday 9 November 2024

So, what makes Dhuandhar Falls so special? Well, the name itself says it all—“Dhuandhar” means “smoke cascade” in Hindi. When you see the waterfall, you’ll understand why! The water crashes down from a height of about 30 meters into a rocky pool below, creating such a powerful mist that it looks like the falls are surrounded by smoke. It’s like nature’s own mist machine!

I spent some time sitting by the viewpoint, and it was one of those rare moments where I felt totally disconnected from the rush of everyday life.

Boating

 Boating on the river

 Friday 8 November 2024

If you’re visiting Jabalpur and looking for a peaceful yet fun way to enjoy the city’s natural beauty, I’ve got just the thing for you: boating! Whether it’s on the Narmada River or around Bhedaghat, Jabalpur’s boating spots offer the perfect way to soak in the stunning landscapes.

One of the best places for boating in Jabalpur is at Bhedaghat, famous for its Marble Rocks. Imagine cruising along a river, surrounded by towering marble cliffs on both sides. The rocks shine in shades of white and pink, making the whole scene look like something out of a movie!

The boat ride takes you right through the Marble Rocks as the Narmada River flows calmly between the cliffs. It’s peaceful, serene, and the kind of experience that will leave you in awe. The cool breeze and the sound of the water are so calming—you’ll feel completely relaxed.

Bhedaghat

 BHEDAGHAT

Thursday 7 November 2024

One of the first things you must see when in Jabalpur is the Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat. About 20 km from the city, this place is simply stunning! The Narmada River flows through tall marble cliffs that shine beautifully in the sunlight. You can even take a boat ride down the river to get up close to the rocks. It’s so peaceful, and the scenery is just unreal!

The marble here isn’t just white; it has streaks of other colors—pale pinks, grays, and golds—creating a beautiful tapestry. The rocks themselves have a smooth, almost polished look, adding to the feeling of being in a dreamlike landscape.
